Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While gambling on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
