Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I think television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
