No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
