NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
