No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 in which he loved playing numerous card games at a young age. He found himself becoming very competitive in the above-mentioned card games while competing against his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little while and headed to New York to compete in some serious chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s initial two years were tough as he would play countless hours and do not win a majority of the time. He earned some extra money by becoming an runner for the poker players. He theorized he might better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus even more on the game.
The real advancement in his skills began when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would regularly wager against each other. He was able to access a number of the greatest minds in chess. With their help, he would tweak his logical thinking skills. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit hold’em.
He also assisted his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. She was an excellent student of the game as she would always be asking questions about how to make the proper choice. He told Annie to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the WSOP competition. Annie is one of the greatest female players the poker arena has ever seen. He relocated to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the following 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, Howard decided to play more tournaments.
