NL Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he loved betting on numerous card games at a young age. He found himself getting very competitive in these card games while competing against his father. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a bit and moved away to New York to compete in some serious chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first two years were difficult as he would play countless hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He earned some extra money by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he could better his game by analyzing his life away from poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and concentrate even more on poker.

The real advancement in his skills began when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable gamblers would frequently wager against one another. Howard had access into some of the best players in chess. With their help, he would sharpen his strategic thinking techniques. Howard used these strategy concepts in the game of No-Limit holdem.

Howard Lederer also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn poker. She was an excellent student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. He told Annie to head out to Sin City and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie is one of the best female players the poker world has ever seen. He headed to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the following 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
