Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While betting on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
