No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
