Concentrate on Annie Duke
Mrs. Duke may not have captured her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most powerful poker competitors at the cash matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi lo.
While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a large win at the tables, Annie heads home and becomes "mom" to her 4 kids. She grew up in New Hampshire and raised into a family of card players. If you do not accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to participate in the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small change girl and has captured her share of difficult tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both competitors that have the skill to win the huge money and do it with a grin.
Mrs. Duke is a strong player at any poker table because she is a true poker player, but it’s a little more than simply being strong at the game. Annie Duke is very smart and graduated from Columbia U where she double majored in English and Psychology.
When you sit across from Annie at the poker table you’ll see she is there to play the game and she starts "sizing" you up as soon as you approach the table. If you cannot compete like a camp, then don’t bother.
Winning over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie Duke branched out to become a consultant to both the UltimateBet poker room and actor Ben Affleck, who was looking to enhance his abilities and become a power at the tables.
You will likely glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll see Annie on the tv and you may even play against her in an online poker game, but do not expect a simple win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not beat her. Although, it’d be fun to mention you played at the at the table with "The Duke".
